Explicit Discretisation For One Dimensional Heat Conduction Equation


 



 

 

 

This is an online simulator of a thin plate that is initially at 200 C. The user have the option to change the temperature on the eastern side of the plate and start the simulation with this initial temperature. I used the explicit finite volume method to numerically solve the one dimensional heat conduction equation. The time step chosen for the simulation is 2 s.

The user can change the specific heat capacity of the plate's material, the density and the thermal conductivity. You need to hit on the Calculate button to solve the equation then you can hit the simulate button and plot the temperature chart with respect to time.
